Before rolling metal tape measures were invented, folding wooden pocket measures were customary.  This Stanley #61 four-part boxwood measure is mounted with brass hinges and end-tips.  Fully extended, it measures 24".  One side is marked in 1/8" increments and the other side in 1/16" graduations.  Inset pins keep the folded ruler neat and tidy.  (When opened: 24" x .5")   da12820b
